To be able to survive the winter, I often must line up projects in advance. I have two books (one of them very small) due towards the end of August, but beyond that I am still taking requests for audio projects.
As authors/publishers hear my work, there is often an immediate need for me to jump on board, but lack of funds to pay for the services. As I was burned so badly early this year, I think I must move forward demanding fair compensation. Potentially up to and including a retainer deposit for the projects I am hired for.
First audio book? Have some questions? I would love to write more about how the audio process gets done, so others can understand the labor we put in. Our skills are honed, and in order to get them for your project, you must negotiate with us fairly.
